
The ZINQAP Annual Scientific Conference (ZASCO) 2024 Organizing Committee invited
SADC Accreditation Service (SADCAS) to participate in this year’s edition of the conference. The conference, themed “Transforming Healthcare Through Digital Innovation” will be held from 26th –27th September 2024 at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo. The conference theme emphasized the critical role of technology in revolutionizing healthcare delivery and improving patient care across Africa. By focusing on digital transformation, the conference aims to explore how these technological advancements can lead to more efficient, accessible, and effective healthcare services, ultimately contributing to the overall health and well-being of our communities.
The objectives of the conference were to facilitate networking, foster learning, and promote growth among healthcare professionals. By bringing together a diverse group of experts from public and private medical laboratories, veterinary services, academic institutions, and various government ministries, the conference created a platform for meaningful interactions and collaborations with participants in the conformity assessment field. Attendees had the opportunity to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and were updated on the latest advancements in digital healthcare innovation.
The SADCAS CEO, Ms Gadzikwa, gave a presentation on new developments at SADCAS, including the SADCAS Digital Transformation project, which was in line with this year’s ZASCO theme. The project, which is in its fourth month of implementation, which will optimize SADCAS business processes, including Accreditation processes and Training.
She emphasized that digital innovation would increase accessibility in the 14 SADC member states and bridge the language barrier gap through translation code.Ms Gadzikwa further shared that SADCAS’ mandate was to broaden scope of accreditation as need arises, currently, SADCAS is in the process of establishing the Proficiency Testing Scheme. She further emphasised on meeting the ISO IS189:2022 transition deadline of 5th December 2025 was made for all accredited medical laboratories.
SADCAS had the opportunity to visit the exhibition stands where companies were showcasing their latest products and service. The conference established a foundation for potential future partnerships with different organizations as Laboratories begin the accreditation process.
